Before you begin
Emma AI is available to all employees who have access to the Virtual Assistant module. You must:
- Be logged into your Plumm account
- Use the web version of the platform
- Have the “Emma AI” feature enabled by your admin
Step 1. Start a new conversation
- Go to Emma AI from the left navigation bar
- On the left, you will see a list of past chats labelled New chat with timestamps
- To rename a chat, click the pencil icon, enter a name, and click the tick mark to save
- A new chat will automatically begin if you end the current one
Step 2. Ask a question or get support
- Use the chat box at the bottom to type your message
- Press the send icon to submit
- Emma AI will respond in the main panel with guidance or links
- Example: If you type “therapy,” Emma will respond with a link to Book a session
- Each message block includes:
- Speaker icon – to listen to the message
- Copy icon – to copy the response
- Timestamp – showing when the message was sent
Emma can help with:
- Booking therapy sessions
- Answering HR policy-related questions
- Providing emotional reassurance (e.g. anxiety, feeling nervous)
Step 3. View profile or end chat
- Click the three-dot icon in the top-right of the chat window
- Choose:
- View Profile – opens Emma AI’s About Me panel
- Includes role description and purpose
- States limitations (e.g. not a licensed therapist)
- Mentions support topics like career, stress, mental wellbeing
- End Chat – closes the current conversation and automatically starts a new session
- View Profile – opens Emma AI’s About Me panel
Note: Ending a chat immediately creates a new empty chat in the history list.
Step 4. Provide feedback
- After ending a chat, the Feedback panel appears
- Rate Emma AI using the star rating selector
- Enter optional written comments in the textbox
- Click Submit to send your review

1.Is Emma AI a real human?
No. Emma AI is a virtual assistant. A disclaimer appears at the bottom of the screen stating this clearly.2 . Can I rename a chat?
Yes. Click the pencil icon next to a chat name, type a new name, and confirm with the tick.3. What happens when I end a chat?
A new session is created automatically in the left panel.
4. Can I hear responses out loud?
Yes. Use the speaker icon on any reply to listen to the message.5. Does Emma offer medical advice?
No. Emma provides supportive responses but advises users to consult a doctor for medical concerns.
6. Where do I book a therapy session?
Type a message like “therapy” and Emma will reply with a clickable Book a session link.
7. Can I give feedback later?
Feedback is requested at the end of a chat, but there is no option to submit it later once skipped.
