Before you begin

  • You must be logged in with admin permissions to import tasks.
  • Ensure you have the task data prepared in an Excel file with the required details.


Step 1: Navigate to the "Import Task" Tab

  • Log in to your Plumm account.
  • Go to the Project Management page from the dashboard.
  • Click on the "Task" tab to access the task management area.
  • From the right-hand side, click Add Task and choose Import Tasks.

Step 2: Import Tasks Details

A slide-in panel will open with the following steps:
  1. Download Template: Click to download the Excel template.
  2. Enter Data: Fill in your task data in the template.
  3. Upload File: Once you’ve completed the data entry, go back to the panel and upload the Excel file.
  4. Select Date Format: Choose the Date Format that corresponds to the format in your file for Start and End Dates.
  5. Click Next: Proceed to the next step.

Step 3: Task Validation (Match the Column Titles)

  • The system will prompt you to "Match the column titles."
  • Map each system field to a column from your Excel file using the dropdowns. These fields include:
    • Task Name
    • Description
    • Start Date
    • End Date
    • Project
    • Billable
    • Assignee
  • After matching, click Next.

Step 4: Import Process and Handling Errors

  • If there are validation errors in any rows, a grid will appear showing the following:
    • Name (or Task Name)
    • Error Description
    • Row Number
    • Skip (checkbox)
  • Actions:
    • Skip: Tick the "Skip" checkbox to ignore specific error rows and continue importing the rest.
    • Download Errors: A link at the top reads “To download the error details displayed below, kindly click here.” Clicking it will allow you to download a file containing the rows with issues.
  • Once you are ready to proceed, click Import:
    • Valid rows will be created as tasks.
    • Skipped/invalid rows will be ignored.

1. What happens if there are errors in my Excel file during import?

If any rows fail validation, you can choose to skip those rows and import the rest. You can also download the error details for review.
 

 

2. Can I import multiple tasks at once?

Yes, you can import multiple tasks at once by using the provided Excel template and ensuring all required fields are filled out properly.
 

 

3.What if I need to make changes to the imported tasks?

Once tasks are imported, you can edit them within the Task Grid, where you can modify task details as needed.
 

 

4.Can I import tasks to multiple projects?

Yes, if your template includes multiple projects, you can import tasks into those projects accordingly.
