Attach Files and Send to Candidate
Summary
Add supported files to candidate emails using Add Attachment, then send them with the message. Attachments can be up to 5 MB each and are stored with the sent email.

Before you begin
To attach files to candidate emails:
- Hire must be included in your organisation’s contract.
- The Hire add-on key must be enabled.
- You need the Send Message permission.
- Attachments are supported when sending emails from:
- Messages
- Candidate Overview > Messages
- Bulk email from a job
Supported file types include:
- Word
- JPEG
- PNG
- Excel
- PowerPoint
Step 1. Open compose
- Go to Messages or Candidate Overview > Messages.
- Select New Message.
- Complete the To, Subject, and Body fields as usual.
Step 2. Add an attachment
- Select Add Attachment.
- The file picker will open.
- Select the file you want to attach.
- Check that the file is no larger than 5 MB.
- Once added, the attachment will appear as a chip showing:
- File name
- File type
- File size in MB
The helper text displayed in compose is Max Size 5 Mb.
If you select an unsupported file type, you will see:
Invalid file type. Please select a valid file (doc, docx, pdf, jpeg, jpg, png, excel, ppt).
If the file is larger than 5 MB, you will see:
File size exceeds 5 MB. Please select a smaller file.
Step 3. Remove or view an attachment
- To remove a file before sending, select Remove on the attachment.
- To preview the file, select View.
- The file will open using its local preview URL.
If the file cannot be opened, you will see:
Can not open file.
Step 4. Send the email
- Check your message and attachments.
- Select Send.
- The files will be sent with the candidate email and stored as email attachments.
- On the sent email, each attachment displays its:
- Original file name
- Content type
- File size
- Select an attachment chip on a sent email to open the file in a new tab.
A paperclip icon on the message thread indicates that the email contains an attachment or an attached job description.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
1. Can I attach more than one file?
Yes. You can add multiple files. Each successfully selected file is added to the attachment list.
2. What is the maximum attachment size?
Each file can be up to 5 MB. The compose helper text displays Max Size 5 Mb, while the size validation uses a 5 MB limit.
3. Which file types can I attach?
You can attach:
- Word documents
- PDFs
- JPEG images
- PNG images
- Excel spreadsheets
- PowerPoint presentations
4. Can I attach CSV or TXT files?
No. CSV and TXT files are not currently supported.
5. Can I remove an attachment before sending?
Yes. Select Remove on the attachment to take it off the compose list before sending the email.
6. Can I preview an attachment before sending?
Yes. Select View to open the file using its available preview URL. If no URL is available, Plumm will display Can not open file.
7. Can I open attachments after the email has been sent?
Yes. Select the attachment chip on the sent email to open the available file URL in a new tab.
