Clock-In and Clock-Out Issues in My Attendance
Summary
This article explains common reasons why clock in or clock out may fail or behave unexpectedly on My Attendance. It covers the messages Plumm displays on the web, what they mean, and what to check with your administrator.
For day-to-day use of the page, see My Attendance. Mobile and kiosk clock in follow separate policy rules.

Before you begin
Attendance must be included in your organisation's Plumm contract, and you must have access to My Attendance.
Web clock in on My Attendance requires:
- An attendance policy assigned to you.
- A shift assigned to you.
- Web Clock In enabled in your attendance policy.
Mobile and kiosk clock-ins are recorded elsewhere. They appear as logs on your day panel but cannot be started from My Attendance on the web.
Troubleshooting clock in and clock out
Most clock-in and clock-out issues are caused by missing setup or attendance policy settings managed by your administrator.
If the clock card is disabled, hover over it to see the tooltip explaining why you cannot clock in.
Navigate to My Attendance
Go to Apps (9-dot menu) > PRODUCT SUITE > Attendance > Time > My Attendance.
The clock card appears above the attendance calendar.
- The play icon starts Clock In.
- The pause icon starts Clock Out.
- The status displays Clock In or Clock Out, depending on your current attendance status.
Clock card disabled
If you cannot use the clock card, hover over it to see the reason.
Shift not assigned
Plumm displays:
Shift Not Assigned: It appears that you do not have a shift assigned to your account. Please contact your HR department to resolve this issue before clocking in
Your administrator must assign a shift to your account before you can clock in.
Attendance policy not assigned
Plumm displays:
Attendance Policy Not Assigned: It seems that no attendance policy is assigned to your account. Please reach out to your HR department to ensure that your attendance policies are correctly set up before proceeding
Your administrator must assign an attendance policy to your account.
Web Clock In disabled
Plumm displays:
Web Clock In is currently disabled in the attendance policy settings. Please contact your HR department for further assistance
Web Clock In is disabled in the Admin Attendance settings for your attendance policy. Contact your administrator or HR team if you need web clock-in access.
Web clock-in validation messages
Early clock in
If you try to clock in before the permitted time, Plumm may display:
Your clock in will start from {time} for your shift.
This appears when Allow employees to clock in within {X minutes} before the shift start time is enabled in Admin Attendance.
Wait until the permitted clock-in time and try again.
IP address restriction
If your attendance policy restricts web clock in by IP address, Plumm checks your IP when you save Clock In.
You may see:
Your current IP address is not available or invalid.
or
Your current IP address ({ip}) is outside the range of permitted IP networks.
Connect from an approved office network or ask your administrator to review the IP settings in Admin Attendance.
Web clock in uses your IP address for this restriction. It does not use your map location.
Already clocked in or out on another device
Plumm may display:
You're already clocked in on a another device
or
You're already clocked out on a another device
Finish or refresh your attendance session on the other device, then try again.
Mandatory comment
If a Comment is required when you clock in or out and you leave it empty, Plumm displays:
Required field
Comments must be fewer than 800 characters. If your comment is too long, Plumm displays:
Comment must be less than 800 characters.
This requirement applies when Comment is mandatory at the time of clock in / clock out is enabled under Web Clock In in Admin Attendance.
Successful clock in or clock out
After a successful clock in, Plumm displays:
Clocked in successfully.
After a successful clock out, Plumm displays:
Clocked out successfully.
Comment, project, and task requirements
The Project and Task fields appear when Allow to add project and task is enabled in Admin Attendance and Project Management is active for your organisation.
The empty option for these fields is Select.
If you select a project that has no assigned tasks, Plumm displays:
No task is assigned.
If these settings are disabled, Project and Task are hidden during web clock in and Regularise adjustment requests.
Web clock in does not ask for your location. Location checks apply to mobile clock in, not My Attendance on the web.
Mobile-only restrictions
The following restrictions apply to the Plumm mobile app rather than web clock in on My Attendance. They can still affect the attendance logs you see on your day panel.
Geofencing
When geofencing is enabled for mobile clock in, you can clock in or out only within configured locations.
If you cannot clock in through the mobile app when you are outside the permitted location, contact your administrator about your organisation's location settings.
Approval for the first clock in of the day
When Approval mandatory for the first clock in of the day is enabled, your first mobile clock in may require manager approval before the attendance is recorded.
Automatic clock in and out
When Automatic clock-in/out when employee moves in/out of geo location is enabled:
- Leaving the configured geofence can automatically clock you out.
- Entering the configured geofence can automatically clock you in, except for the first clock in of the day.
Contact your administrator if an automatic mobile clock in or clock out occurs unexpectedly.
