Create a General Task
Summary
General tasks are standard tasks that can be scheduled in Plumm and assigned to users. These tasks appear in the assignee's My Tasks and can be triggered by date, event, or the completion of another task. Managers and admins can also track them under Team Tasks.

Before you begin
You must be one of the following to create general tasks:
- Admin
- Super Admin
- Manager (with access to Team Tasks)
Once assigned, tasks appear in:
- My Tasks for the user
- Team Tasks for managers reviewing their direct or indirect reports
Step 1. Create a general task
- Go to Task Scheduling
- Click Add Schedule
- Select General Task as the task type
- Fill in the following:
- Task title
- Assignee (user who will receive the task)
- Task description
Step 2. Set trigger condition
Choose how the task should be triggered:
- By Task Completion
- The task will be triggered only after a previously scheduled task has been completed
- By Date
- Select a date or event (e.g. start date, birthday, etc.)
- Choose a Value:
- Before – Triggers before the selected date
- After – Triggers after the selected date
- On – Triggers exactly on the selected date (value input is disabled)
Step 3. Set due days and link to a feature
- Set Due Days – the number of days the assignee has to complete the task after it’s triggered
- (Optional) Use the Link to Feature dropdown to associate the task with a specific Plum module
- Once triggered, users can click the task name in MyTasks to be taken directly to the linked feature

1. Who can assign general tasks?
Admins, superadmins, and managers can assign tasks to their direct or indirect reports.
2. Are general tasks available in all scheduling types?
Yes. They are supported for event-based, date/time-based, and Send Now methods.
3. What happens if I choose “On” as the trigger value?
The task will be triggered exactly on the selected date or event. The value field will be disabled.
4. Can I link general tasks to specific Plum features?
Yes. Linking provides a direct path from My Tasks to the relevant Plum module for seamless action.
5. When do tasks appear for users?
Tasks only appear in My Tasks once they are triggered based on the selected conditions.
