Geo Fencing Web lets admins manage IP address restrictions for web clock-in under Admin > Attendance > Geo Fencing > Web. Add trusted WAN IP ranges so employees can clock in through the browser only from approved networks.

Before you begin

Attendance must be included in your organisation’s Plumm contract, and the Attendance add-on must be active.

You need the Attendance page permission in the Admin module to access Admin > Attendance.

Use your organisation’s WAN public IP addresses, not local LAN network addresses.

Your IP address should be static. If the IP address changes, it may no longer match the ranges configured in Plumm.

Using Geo Fencing Web

The Geo Fencing tab includes a Web section for managing IP restrictions used with web clock-in.

The Web section displays the IP ranges that have already been added.

These ranges can then be linked to an attendance policy through the Web Clock In settings.

Navigate to Geo Fencing Web

Go to Admin > Attendance > Geo Fencing > Web.

Web is the default option in the Geo Fencing side menu.

You can also reach this area from the Admin -> Attendance -> Geo-fencing link available in Attendance Setting.

View the IP list

The Web section displays a grid with:

  • Name
  • IP Address

Use Search to find an existing IP restriction.

If there are no IP addresses to display, Plumm shows:

Nothing to show here yet.

Open the three-dot menu (⋮) on a row to access:

  • Edit
  • Delete

Add an IP address

Select Add IP.

The Add IP Address form opens.

Plumm provides the following guidance:

  • Make sure the IP addresses are your WAN public IP addresses and not local LAN network addresses.
  • Use a static IP address. If the address changes, it may no longer match the IP configured in Plumm.

Enter the required network information:

  • Name of the network – enter a name for the network. The placeholder is Enter Name. This field is required.
  • Your Current IP Address – Plumm displays your current IP as Your Current IP Address is {ip}.
  • From – enter the starting IP address. The placeholder is From IP Address. This field is required.
  • To (Optional) – enter the ending IP address when you want to configure a range. The placeholder is To IP Address.

Select Add if you need to add another From and To range.

Select Submit when the IP information is complete.

Edit an IP address

Find the required IP restriction in the grid.

Open the three-dot menu (⋮) > Edit or select the row.

The Edit IP Address form opens.

Update the required network name or IP range information, then select Submit.

Delete an IP address

Open the three-dot menu (⋮) > Delete on the IP restriction you want to remove.

The Delete IP range confirmation opens.

Plumm displays:

Are you sure you want to delete this? This action cannot be undone.

Select Confirm to delete the IP range.

Link IP addresses to attendance policies

Adding an IP address under Geo Fencing does not by itself enable an IP restriction for web clock-in.

Go to Attendance Setting > Web Clock In for the required attendance policy.

Enable Enable IP restriction, then choose the required addresses under Select IP Address.

The Web Clock In settings also include the link:

Admin -> Attendance -> Geo-fencing

  • What type of IP address should I add?
    Add your organisation’s WAN public IP address. Do not use a local LAN network address.
  • Does the IP address need to be static?
    Yes. The guidance recommends a static IP because a changing IP may no longer match the address configured in Plumm.
  • What IP validation messages can appear?
    Plumm can display Invalid IP Address. For a range, the To IP must be greater than or equal to the From IP.
  • Can I add multiple IP ranges to one network?
    Yes. Select Add to create additional From and To rows before submitting.
  • Why am I seeing a required field message?
    Check that you have entered the network Name and at least one From IP address.
  • Who can manage Web Geo Fencing?
