Rota Settings
Summary
Rota Settings in Admin Rota let you enforce a minimum gap between consecutive shifts for an employee and require notes when managers assign shifts on Team Rota.

Before you begin
Rota must be on your organisation’s contract. Admin Rota is available only when the rota add-on is active.
You need access to Admin Rota.
Plumm shows the Rota item in Admin when you have:
- The Rota Admin page permission.
- SuperAdmin access.
Rota Admin is not shown for the Mental Health;L & D package.
Changes save automatically when you:
- Toggle a checkbox.
- Change the hours value.
There is no separate Save button.
Using Rota settings
Use Admin Rota Settings to apply organisation-wide scheduling rules.
Managers see the effects on Team Rota when they assign or publish shifts.
Navigating to Rota settings
Go to:
Admin > Rota > Settings
The page title is:
Admin Rota
In the left panel, select Notifications.
Shift rules and notification checkboxes are available on this panel.
Minimum gap between consecutive shifts
The control label is:
A minimum gap of {number} hour must be maintained between two consecutive shifts
When the value is not 1, the label displays:
hours must be maintained between two consecutive shifts
Enable the checkbox to turn on the rule.
Enter the number of hours in the inline field.
When enabled, Plumm blocks Team Rota assignments that leave less than the configured gap between consecutive shifts for the same employee.
Client validation
Plumm validates:
Hours cannot be negative.
Saving
Changes save automatically.
Success toast:
Setting updated successfully
Failure toasts:
- Unable to update the setting.
- Something went wrong, Please try again.
Mandatory notes on shift assignment
The checkbox label is:
Make it mandatory to add notes when assigning a shift
When enabled:
- Managers must enter a Note when adding or updating a shift on Team Rota.
- Empty validation shows:
Required field
- The note limit is 200 characters.
- If the limit is exceeded, Plumm shows:
Maximum 200 characters are allowed
When disabled:
- Note is optional on Team Rota shift forms.
This setting also affects shift change requests when notes are required for employees.

- Do these settings save automatically?
Yes. Each checkbox or hours change saves immediately. - Can I set different gap hours for different employees?
No. One minimum gap applies organisation-wide when the rule is enabled. - Can I change the gap hours after enabling the rule?
Yes. Update the number in the inline field. The new value saves automatically. - Where are email notification toggles?
