Worker Groups

 Summary

Worker Groups are configured on Admin pension benefit details. Use them to set employee and employer contribution percentages and earning limits, then select the appropriate group when enrolling someone through Company Money Pension.

Add Worker Group is available only on the Admin Worker Groups tab. It is not available on Company Money Pension.

Before you begin

You must have an active Payroll add-on to access and use Payroll features.

Open Admin > Benefits, then open a benefit where:

  • Type is Recurring
  • Category is Pension

You need access to Admin Benefits and View Benefits to open the pension details page.

Before configuring Worker Groups, be aware of the following:

  • Add Worker Group is not shown when the pension provider is Peoples.
  • For Peoples, you can Edit a group, but Group Name, Employee Contribution (%), and Employer Contribution (%) are disabled.
  • Delete is not shown for Peoples.
  • For Smart, Earning Limits, Lower Limit, and Upper Limit are disabled when editing.
  • Create at least one worker group and set a default group under Provider before enrolling people through Company Money Pension.

If a default worker group is not set, eligibility can return:

User cannot be auto-enrolled, default worker group is not set.

If a worker group is missing when contributions are submitted, Plumm can return:

Working group is missing for user : [name]


Opening Worker Groups

  1. Log in to Plumm.
  2. Open Admin.
  3. Select Benefits.
  4. Open a Pension benefit.
  5. Select Worker Groups.

The Worker Groups tab is shown only on pension benefit details. It is not available on Allowance, Loan, Recurring, or Vehicles benefit details.

Worker Groups are also not managed from the Company Money Pension page.


Read the list

Use Search to find a worker group. The placeholder is Search.

If there are no worker groups, Plumm shows:

Nothing to show here yet.

The export file is WorkerGroups.xlsx.

The list includes the following information:

Group Name
The worker group name.

Employee Contribution (%)
The employee contribution percentage.

Employer Contribution (%)
The employer contribution percentage.

Earning Limits
The earning limit type stored against the worker group.

Lower Limit
The lower earning limit.

Upper Limit
The upper earning limit.

Open the three-dot menu (⋮) on a row to access Edit.

Delete is also shown unless the pension provider is Peoples.

If the provider is not Peoples, Add Worker Group is shown.


Adding a worker group

Select Add Worker Group.

The modal heading is Add Worker Group.

The available buttons are Cancel and Confirm.

Group Name
Required. If left empty, Plumm shows Required.

Employee Contribution (%)
Required. The default is 5.

The minimum is 0 and the maximum is 100.

Validation can include:

  • Empty or not a number — Required
  • Negative value — Value must be a positive number
  • Above 100 — Value must not exceed 100%

Employer Contribution (%)
Required. The default is 3.

The minimum is 0 and the maximum is 100.

Validation can include:

  • Empty or not a number — Required
  • Below 3 — Employer contribution must be at least 3%
  • Above 100 — Value must not exceed 100%

The combined employee and employer contribution must be at least 8%.

If the combined contribution is below 8%, Employee Contribution (%) shows:

Total contribution must be at least 8%

Earning Limits
Required. The first option is Select. The default is Qualify Earning.

Options are:

  • Qualify Earning
  • Custom

Selecting Qualify Earning sets:

  • Lower Limit — 6240
  • Upper Limit — 50270

Both fields are then disabled.

Selecting Custom enables Lower Limit and Upper Limit.

Lower Limit
For Custom, this is required and must be greater than 0.

Validation can include:

  • Empty or 0 — Required
  • Negative value — Value should not be negative

Upper Limit
Shown for both Qualify Earning and Custom.

For Custom, this is required and must be greater than 0.

Validation can include:

  • Empty or 0 — Required
  • Negative value — Value should not be negative

Select Confirm to save the worker group.

The success toast uses the server message.

An error can show:

Error occured, please refresh and try again.


Editing a worker group

Open the three-dot menu (⋮) for the worker group and select Edit.

The modal heading is Edit Worker Group.

The same fields and validation used when adding a worker group apply when editing.

Provider-specific restrictions also apply:

  • For Smart, Earning Limits, Lower Limit, and Upper Limit are disabled.
  • For Peoples, Group Name, Employee Contribution (%), and Employer Contribution (%) are disabled.

Select Confirm to save your changes.


Deleting a worker group

Open the three-dot menu (⋮) and select Delete.

Delete is not shown when the pension provider is Peoples.

The modal heading is:

Delete Worker Group?

Plumm asks:

Are you sure you want to delete this worker group?

Enter DELETE in the Type DELETE here field.

If the text is not entered correctly, Plumm shows:

Please type DELETE to confirm deletion.

Select Cancel to leave without deleting the group, or select Confirm to delete it.

The success toast uses the server message.


Using a worker group when you enrol

Worker Groups are created and managed under Admin. You do not add them from Company Money.

To use a worker group when enrolling someone:

  1. Open Company Money Pension.
  2. Open Members.
  3. Select Enrol.
  4. Select a Worker Group.

Worker Group is required. The first option is Select.

If you leave Worker Group empty, Plumm shows:

Required field.

After you select a worker group:

  • Employer Contribution (%) is populated from the selected group and disabled.
  • Employee Contribution (%) is populated from the selected group and disabled.

The Members grid also includes a Worker Group column showing the group assigned to each person.


Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • Where is Add Worker Group?
    Go to Admin > Benefits > [pension benefit] > Worker Groups. Add Worker Group is not available on the Company Money Pension page.
  • Why is Add Worker Group missing?
    The pension provider may be Peoples, or you may not be on the Admin pension Worker Groups tab.
  • What percentages are required?
    Employer Contribution (%) must be at least 3%. The combined employee and employer contribution must be at least 8%. Neither contribution can exceed 100%.
  • What does Qualify Earning do?
    It sets Lower Limit to 6240 and Upper Limit to 50270 and disables both fields.
  • Can I enrol without a worker group?
    No. Enrol requires a Worker Group. Auto-enrolment can also fail if a default worker group has not been set under Provider.
